Marquette Blues roll past Bark River, move into Mid Pen championship

ESCANABA — The Marquette Blues moved into the Mid Pen Tournament title game after crushing Bark River 14-0 Saturday in five innings.

The Blues roared out of the gate, scoring five runs in the first inning.

Marquette then padded its lead with four more in the second frame, and added another five runs in the third to break the game open.

Bark River also committed seven errors, which the Blues easily took advantage of.

Jacob Rogers picked up the win for the Blues after giving up only two hits and racking up four strikeouts in four innings of work.

Tyler Larson led Marquette offensively, going 2 for 2 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Alec Gadzinski went 2 for 3 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Blake Henriksen hit a double and had two RBI and two runs scored.

Marquette plays a team yet to be determined today at noon EDT for the championship.
