Iron Range Roll running and bicycling event set for June 3

MARQUETTE — The fourth annual Iron Range Roll running and bicycle event will be held on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail in Marquette County on Saturday, June 3.

The event is sponsored by the 40 Below Marquette County Young Professionals and is meant to be a fun event for participants, though it will be timed. All events end in Marquette.

The individual running race has been modified to an eight-mile race commencing at 12:30 p.m. where the trail meets highway M-35 in Negaunee Township.

The four-person running relay and the individual bicycling events will be held at the original 16 miles beginning at Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum in Ishpeming at 1:30 p.m.

A party and awards ceremony will follow at the Ore Dock Brewing Company from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Proceeds support the YMCA of Marquette County’s Reach & Rise youth mentoring program that provides adult mentors for youths ages 6 to 17 to support them in social and emotional learning and growth. Group mentoring was added in the past year, too.
