Calumet outscores Mutineers Fri.

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Mutineers couldn’t keep up with Calumet’s offensive explosion as the Copper Country visitors posted a 11-3 victory in Great Lakes Hockey League action on Friday night at Lakeview Arena.

The teams play again at 8 p.m. today back at Lakeview in their final meeting this season.

The league’s leading scorer, Marquette’s Dallas McLauglin, had a hand in each of his team’s scores Friday with two goals and an assist.

That included a goal in the game’s first two minutes that gave the Mutineers an early lead. It was assisted by Joey Enright and Adam Szabo.

But Calumet answered about three minutes later off the stick of Tyler Loukus. The teams were tied 2-2 at the first intermission.

Five-minute major penalties for fighting were handed out in the middle of the second period to Marquette’s Levi Jezek and Calumet’s Tyler Froberg. Each was ejected and faces a one-game suspension.

The Wolverines broke the game open in the middle period, scoring six unanswered goals and forcing a change in goalie at the next intermission from Mike Madosh, who had 22 saves, to Brandon Knopp, who stopped eight shots in the third.

Enright finished with a goal and two assists, while teammate Craig Hartz also had an assist.
