Jonas, Hietikko turn in big feats in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING — John Jonas of Jack’s 2 had a break-and-run and Brandon Hietikko of Venice an 8-ball break during Week 3 of the second round in the Ishpeming Men’s Pool League on Dec. 28.

While Jack’s 1 deefeated Jack’s 2, 14-10, the other four matches all ended in close 13-11 decisions — Tilden Club over Paradise, Wayside over Venice, Rainbow over Riverside and Wonder Bar over Jack’s 3.

On Dec. 21, Joe Prisk of the Tilden Club and Shawn Seelen of Venice each had break-and-runs.

Jack’s 1 bounced Rumorz, 21-3; Jack’s 3 whipped Wayside, 19-5; Jack’s 2 dropped Venice, 19-5; Rainbow slipped past Paradise, 15-9; and Tilden Club edged Wonder Bar, 13-11.

Negaunee Men’s

On Dec. 21, Pasquali’s 2 tripled up Pasquali’s 4, 18-6; Pasquali’s 1 doubled up Smarties, 16-8; Rookies tripped Pasquali’s 3, 13-11; and two matches ended in 12-12 ties — Eagles vs. Cascade 2 and Eagles 2 vs. Cascade 1.

Marquette Women’s

During Week 11, DD Dames railroaded Crossroads, 7-2; Fatboyz 1 picked on Fatboyz 2, 6-3; Nickel took care of Breakers, 6-3; Pat’s whizzed by Pat’s Too, 6-3; Third Base 2 edged Third Base, 5-4; and Rose’s nipped Remie’s, 5-4.

During Week 10, Fatboyz 2 nailed Third Base, 8-1; Pat’s bounced Breakers, 6-3; Pat’s Too doubled up the Wooden Nickel, 6-3; and these matches were all decided by razor-thin 5-4 margins — DD Dames over Remie’s, Third Base 2 over Fatboyz 1 and Rose’s over Crossroads.

During Week 9, Remie’s charged past Third Base, 7-2; Rose’s overcame Third Base 2, 7-2; Fatboyz 2 outdistanced Pat’s, 6-3; and these matches were all decided 5-4 — Fatboyz 1 over Pat’s Too, DD Dames over Wooden Nickel and Crossroads over Breakers.

In Week 8, DD Dames flew by Third Base 2, 8-1; Fatboyz 1 dumped Breakers, 7-2; Pat’s doubled up Remie’s, 6-3, Third Base clipped Crossroads, 6-3; Rose’s nipped Pat’s Too, 5-4; and Fatboyz 2 eased past Wooden Nickel, 5-4.
