Wright, Myers lead Marquette LL
MARQUETTE – Braden Wright and Cooper Myers combined on the pitching mound to lead Marquette to a 13-3 victory over Ishpeming in the opening game of the 11- and 12-year-old Little League baseball district tournament held in Marquette on Tuesday evening.
Wright, Lincoln Sager and Ty Lotterman each had home runs for the home team while Cooper Anderson added two hits to the winning cause.
Marquette advances to play Negaunee at 6:30 p.m. today back at the North Marquette Field Complex just off Presque Isle Avenue.
The victorious team goes on to the final game of the winner’s bracket on Friday night in Marquette against the winner’s bracket team coming out of the western Upper Peninsula between Portage Lake (Houghton-Hancock), Keweenaw (Calumet) and Penokee Range (Ironwood).
Ishpeming remains alive in this double-elimination tournament and will face tonight’s loser in an elimination game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
