Christensen sparks Buck’s over Venice I

ISHPEMING – Nikki Christensen smacked an over-the-fence grand slam to power Buck’s Party Store to a 22-5 whipping of Venice I in Week 5 Iron Range Women’s Softball League play. It was one of her four hits in the contest.

Janet Koski added four hits and Jamie Cory three for Buck’s.

Beth Christenson went 3-for-3, and Steph Robar and Terri Ostola added two hits apiece, for Venice I.

In other Class A action, Jubilee Foods got five hits each from Steph Alongo and Sue Rice in a 23-21 victory over Quality Car Care, despite four safeties apiece by Erin LaValley and Mindy Pepin.

JoBeth Williams (homer) and Brooke Pasanen both went 3-for-4 to lead Screened Image to a 12-3 triumph over Jasper Ridge Brewery. Amanda Harlock went 3-for-3 for the Brewery.

UP Home Health clobbered Pasquali’s, 33-8, behind five hits – including three homers – by Terri Tammelin. Teammate Elyssa Gregurash counted a homer among her six hits.

For Pasquali’s, Andria Corcoran had two safeties, including a grand slam.

Angie Juidici hit a triple as Sisters dropped Cliffs Natural Resources, 17-9, though Cassey Sandberg went 4-for-4 (two triples) and Lacey Pietro hit a homer for Cliffs.

In Class B, Kim Koski (five) and Erin King (four) combined for nine hits as Crossfit 906 shelled AAA Insurance, 19-8.

Bree Ranta, Natali Rudoni, Christine Larson and Hilary Richardson added three hits apiece.

Dave’s Collision smacked Venice III, 21-10, as Jamee Gobert recorded four hits and Michelle Roose three.

Carley Maki posted four hits (double) and Dana Rivord three (double) as Chapper’s tripped Signs Unlimited, 14-10. Sandy Carlson went 3-for-3 for the losers.

The Negaunee Eagles stomped Jack’s TeePee, 21-5, as Joy Prisk backed winning pitcher Sue Bazinette with four hits – including two triples and a double. Ecko Popps added three hits (homer) and Chastity Margo two (homer) for the winners.

Honkala Construction came back from a 10-0 deficit in the sixth inning to beat Paradise, 11-10, though both Lisa Niemi and Lynn Ball went 2-for-3 with a double for the vanquished.

In Class C competition, Red Rock Lanes rocked Willey’s Tire Shop, 36-17, behind five hits apiece by Rachael Scott and Breanna Leanes. Scott belted two home runs and Leanes one.

For Willey’s, Brooke Bleckler went 4-for-5 (triple) and Jamie Zaleski 4-for-5 (double).

Ellen Sundberg, Keri Murray and Stacie Vahamaa all rapped out four hits as Eastwood smashed Creative Industries, 23-0. Sundberg came up with a homer and a double; Murray two doubles.

UP Fabricating toppled Wooden Nickel, 9-1, behind three round trippers by Valerie Prusi. Kelly Bathke went 3-for-3 (double) for Wooden Nickel.

Megan Deshambo went 4-for-4 with two home runs to lead Congress Pizza to a 21-20 win over Venice II. Loretta Willey chipped in two homers and Tera Bell one for Congress.

For Venice II, Brittany Niskes rapped out four hits – including a homer – and Lilly Kurian added two hits.

Martin Sports drubbed Palomaki Family Chiropractic, 29-17, as Josey Moyle went 7-for-7 with a homer and teammate Chelsea Belanger chipped in five hits – including a pair of doubles.

Jen Flynn and Krystal Foster both went 4-for-5 for Palomaki.

Rookie’s clubbed Xccelerated Fitness, 21-0; and Bertucci Construction drew a bye.
