Cheer camps scheduled

MARQUETTE – The Father Marquette Catholic Schools are offering three week-long sessions of cheerleading camps for children entering pre-kindergarten through eighth grades beginning Monday.

Under the direction of Coach Bridget Johnson, participants will be taught cheers, chants, stunting and tumbling while learning to work as a team to accomplish their goals. On the last day, they will have a Show Your Stuff event for family and friends.

Camps take place Monday through Friday, June 15-19, July 13-17 and Aug. 10-14 at the Father Marquette Elementary School building gym.

Participants need to wear non-baggy athletic clothing and tennis or cheer shoes. Long hair should be pulled back, and a water bottle should be brought along with a healthy snack each day.

Pre-K and first-grade will be offered from 9-10:30 a.m. at a cost of $45, second-fourth grades from 11 a.m-1 p.m. for $60, and fifth-eighth grades from 1:30-4 p.m. for $75.

Registered Father Marquette School students receive a $5 discount.

Athletes preregistered by Friday for next week’s camp; Friday, July 10, for the July camp; and Friday, Aug. 7, for the August camp will receive a $5 discount in their camp cost as well.
