Calumet boys basketball team stymies Ishpeming Hematites, 66-50

ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming boys basketball team dropped its sixth straight contest Monday night, a 66-50 decision to Calumet at the Hematites’ gym.

Calumet’s Matt Ojala went off with 11 field goals and four free throws for 27 points while Travis Ojala added 11 points to help the Copper Kings improve to 16-3.

Ishpeming (5-11) was led by senior forward Darius Yohe with 18 points, while junior forward Jacob Kugler had 10 and senior guard Gavin Sundberg nine.

The Hematites were down 13-10 after one quarter before falling into a 27-18 hole at halftime.

Calumet kept pace the rest of the way, outscoring Ishpeming in each of the final two quarters.

Ishpeming visits Iron Mountain (17-0) tonight.
