MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team only had one home meet this season, but the Wildcats made it count on Saturday afternoon.

NMU won 10 events and set a school record by Marquette Redettes alum Shayla Huebner to win the Northern Challenge. Huebner broke the 300-meter dash record by running it in 40.86 seconds, while teammate Paige Dutcher followed with a second-place finish in 41.80 that places her second in the Wildcats’ record books.

Senior Michelle Juergen won two events, the high jump and long jump, and set an NCAA Division II provisional mark in the former. Her jump of 5-feet-6 was also her season best.

Paige DuBois climbed the record books as she won the 600 in 1:38.83, which is the second-best time in Wildcats’ history, and MSHS alum Izzie Peterson set a career-best mark of 25.65 in the 200. She also won the 55.

Nina Augsten in the 55 hurdles, Anna Kelley in the mile and Alyssa Rivest in the weight throw were the Wildcats’ other individual winners, while Northern also took first in the 4-by-400 relay.

The Wildcats head to Saginaw Valley State for the Jet’s Pizza Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
