Upper Peninsula high school boys soccer finals return on Saturday

MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Soccer Tournament is returning to the Kaufman Sports Complex in Marquette with eight teams on Saturday.

Play will be held in two divisions, with semifinal and final matches taking place all day. Each game will have full 45-minute halves and 10-minute intermission with a five-player shootout to determine winners in case of a tie at the end of regulation.

The Silver Division will kick off action at 9 a.m. with the Marquette Senior High School JV1 team facing Copper Country Christian and Negaunee to play Escanaba-Bayside.

The Gold Division semifinals take place at 11 a.m. with MSHS varsity taking on Kingsford and Iron Mountain to face Sault Ste. Marie.

The Silver Division championship and consolation games go at 1 p.m., while the Gold final matches will be at 3 p.m.

Medals and team awards will be awarded to the champion and runner-up of each division.

Admission is $5 for all day.
