MARQUETTE — One player each from the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Northern Michigan University earned honorable mention status when GLIAC award were announced Thursday.

With voting conducted by the league’s head coaches in each sport, NMU senior defender Allyssa Milam for the women and junior defender Kevin Hoof for the men earn the league distinction.

Milam was named honorable mention for the third straight season as she tied a career high this fall with two goals and also notched her only three collegiate assists for seven points this season.

Milam closes out her Northern career having played in 69 games with 68 starts. She has 13 points on five goals (goals count as two points) and three assists.

During her time on the NMU defense, the Wildcats recorded 19 shutouts.

Kevin Hoof

Hoof finished with two goals and started and played in 18 of Northern’s 19 games, including in its first appearance in the GLIAC Tournament and its first win in that event in the quarterfinals at Tiffin on Tuesday.

As a defender like Milam, Hoof help the Wildcats post four shutouts this season, two coming in the team’s final six games.
