Westwood hosts Pink Party at tonight’s football game
ISHPEMING — Westwood High School and the Superior Health Foundation will celebrate October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month just a few days early tonight at the Patriots’ football game.
The signature event of the 31 Days of Pink will be a Pink Party at the 7 p.m. game with Westwood hosting Gwinn. Included will be a pink party, auctioning off of pink jerseys, auctioning off of a Green Bay Packers football package that includes game tickets, and recognition of breast cancer survivors.
With help from mBank and the SHF, throughout October, the Patriots’ athletic teams will sell pink merchandise at home events and in school, giving supporters the chance to purchase items in honor or memory of loved ones who have battled the horrific disease.
During the month-long event, funds will be raised for the Breast Health Fund, a charity helping Upper Peninsula women and men cover costs of mammograms, breast biopsies and other non-covered breast health expenses.
Busineses are also encouraged to sponsor a day during October for $250.
