Northern Michigan University volleyball back on road this weekend

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University volleyball team is on the road this weekend with GLIAC matches at Wayne State at 7 p.m. today and Grand Valley State at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Last weekend on the road, the Wildcats swept Northwood in three sets but were swept in three sets by No. 8 Ferris State.

NMU is the No. 1 team in NCAA Division II for blocks per set, averaging 2.9, led by senior Kayla Chosa with 1.36 and sophomore Sarah Kuehn with 1.27, both in the top 20 in the country.

Senior Jami Hogeboom became the sixth Northern player to reach the 3,000 plateau in assists last weekend as she now has 3,001, while junior Autumn Monsma leads the GLIAC in 0.51 service aces per set and senior Madison Whitehead is eighth all-time at NMU with 1,133 kills.

Wayne State is on a five-match winning streak, while GVSU has split its last four matches.
