Brianna Lynch powers River Rock Lanes in 31-15 slugfest victory over AAA Insurance in Class C of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League

ISHPEMING — Brianna Lynch went 5 for 5 with two home runs and a triple to lead River Rock Lanes to a 31-15 slugfest victory over AAA Insurance in Class C of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on Aug. 2.

Nichol Trego also went 5 for 5 in the winning effort, while teammate Danielle Sierra hit a homer and Jayda Johnson and Linda Carello each had triples.

AAA’s Chelsea Roberts and Victoria Powelson both homered.

Also in Class C, Mara Couch hit a grand slam homer and Jen Ogea a regular homer as Venice 2 slipped past Marquette Embroidery 18-13.

Embroidery’s Andrea Bourdeau struck out 15 on the pitching rubber while Angela Leece, who went 4 for 4, and Shauna Annala both homered.

Melissa Adamini went 4 for 5 with a triple while Holly Luokkala and Des Fernandes each tripled as Jack’s Teepee 2 rolled past Willey’s Tire Shop 23-12. Willey’s Brooke Bleckler went 5 for 5 with three triples.

Lynn Laakso and Val Prusi both homered to help U.P. Fabricating post a 16-2 win over Wooden Nickel, which got a homer from Bethany Firby as Katie Walker went 3 for 3.

Bertucci Construction eased past QCPFC 13-9 as the winners’ Jodi Hemmila and QCPFC’s Jenni Quayle each homered.

Amy Richards hit two doubles while going 3 for 4, Jessica Harper went 4 for 4 and Kate Axford had a double as she went 2 for 3 in Paradise’s 18-10 win over U.P. Health Plan. UPHP’s Ellen Sundberg was 4 for 4 and Kera Williams 2 for 4.

In Class A, Teri Haynes hit an over-the-fence homer along with a triple while Erika Bjorne went 4 for 4 in Jasper Ridge Brewery’s 18-3 win over Martin Sports.

Martin’s Thalicia Gray, who homered, and Vanessa Briones each went 3 for 3.

Also in Class A, Mariah Lapointe-Dunham was 3 for 5 with a homer in Screened Image’s 23-0 blanking of Jubilee Foods, which saw Julie Boule go 2 for 3.

Liz Hamming, who tripled, and Debbie Zummak each went 2 for 3 as Buck’s Party Store dumped Sister’s 9-4. Sister’s Angie Juidici, who doubled, and Sandie Whiteford also went 2 for 3.

Cognition Brewing Co. pulled away from a 6-6 tie in the sixth inning to record an 11-8 win over Venice 1, while Honkala Construction recorded a 14-10 win over Crossfit 906.

In Class B, Tamara Wommer collected the game-winning, walkoff hit in the bottom of the seventh inning as she went 2 for 3 in Pasquali’s 15-14 win over Jack’s Teepee 1.

Teammate Kara Szember was 5 for 5 with a triple and double, while Jack’s Chelsey Poirier tripled and Natalee Dobson doubled.

Libby Doney hit a pair of homers to help Yooper Shirts overcome Dave’s Collision 20-18.

Angela Paris and Connie Kontio both were 4 for 4 to lead Quality Car Care to a 13-12 nailbiter over Venice 3. Venice’s Shari Mahoski was 3 for 3 and Nichole Sundberg 2 for 2 with a triple.

Kassy Carlson and Marina Nault each went 3 for 4 to propel Tino’s to a 21-13 win over Buster’s, which got homers from Brandi Anderson and Ashley Wanhala.

Becca LaChapelle was 3 for 4 to lead the Signs Unlimited to a 14-7 doubling of Eagles, which got a homer and triple from Nancy Laine.
