Sierra Carlson heads Marquette Redette soccer honorees in Upper Peninsula Soccer Conference

MARQUETTE — A half-dozen girls from Marquette, the first champions of the Upper Peninsula Soccer Conference, were accorded all-conference honors as announced recently.

Senior Sierra Carlson won the biggest honor of UPSC Offensive Player of the Year.

Three of her teammates were named UPSC First-Team, sophomore Natalie Robinia, senior Deni Peterson and senior Aurora Mlsna. Robinia and Peterson were unanimous selections to the team.

And Redettes sophomore Lauren Kurzawa and junior Caitlin Palomaki earned honorable mention status in the all-conference selections.

Kingsford’s Hannah Carlson was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Marquette captured the inaugural conference championship after compiling a 5-0-1 UPSC record to go along with a 10-2-2 overall mark.

Here are the remainder of the all-conference selections:

First Team — Tori Dal Santo, Kingsford (unanimous); Daryn DuPont, Houghton (unanimous); Hailey Ellis, Iron Mountain (unanimous); Abbey Erickson, Kingsford; Brianna Hoffman, Iron Mountain (unanimous); Abigail Person, Kingsford; Riley Poupore, Iron Mountain (unanimous); and Maddie Ryan, Kingsford (unanimous).

Honorable mention — Bethan Fehr, Iron Mountain; Ally Fenton, Houghton; Marissa Klarich, Iron Mountain; Kaaren Liston, Houghton; Abby Mauno, Houghton; Marissa Schilling, Iron Mountain; Carly Schneider, Kingsford.
