Northern Michigan University loses 1st lacrosse game played in GLIAC
LEBANON, Illinois — Northern Michigan University lost its first-ever GLIAC lacrosse game 20-1 at McKendree on Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats commanded from the beginning, scoring 11 unanswered goals before the Wildcats’ Shelby Klotz netted her 26th goal of the season at the 10:17 mark to avert the shutout.
The Bearcats (5-4 overall, 1-0 GLIAC), scored twice more before the first half was over and another seven in the second half.
McKendree’s Paige Salthouse led all players with five goals, while teammate Victoria Lelo had four. NMU’s Brianna Bangle made 12 saves, while the Wildcats had seven shots with four on goal. The Bearcats had 40 shots with 32 on goal.
Northern, now 2-7 overall, remain on the road for another GLIAC matchup at Tiffin, Ohio, at 7 p.m. Friday.
