Tri Media Pee Wee youth hockey team captures Green Bay title

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Tri Media 12-under Pee Wee AA hockey team won the championship of the Tundra Tussle tournament held in Green Bay, Wisconsin, recently.
Marquette clinched the title with a 6-1 victory over the Portage Lake Flyers of Houghton. After Portage scored the game’s first goal, Tri Media stormed back with six in a row to wrap it up, led by Jack Sides with a three-goal hat trick. Ethan Phillips, AJ Bottari and Caden Bouws each had a goals as Liam Beerman made 14 saves in goal.
Coach Mike L’Huillier’s team opened with a 3-2 win over the Green Bay Bobcats as Phillips scored twice and Jack Sides once. Drew Dellies added a pair of assists while Owen Riipi had one as Beerman made 10 saves in net.
Marquette (28-0-3) then scored a 7-0 win over Milwaukee Winter Club as Bouws scored twice while Phillips, Sides, Riipi, Theo Adams and Jake Garrow added one apiece. Beerman made four saves in goal.
In their final game before the championship, Tri Media recorded another shutout, this time a 6-0 win over the Highland Park, Illinois, Falcons. Bouws and Sides each scored twice while Garrow and Bottari added one each and Beerman made nine saves.
The Marquette Pee Wee team is off until Jan. 7, when it hosts Traverse City.
