Marquette City Insurance U-12 hockey team sweeps

MARQUETTE — The City Insurance Under-12 A junior hockey team won all three of its games in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, recently to improve to 14-5-1 this season.

CIA opened with a 6-1 victory over Beloit, Wisconsin, as Cam Rector scored twice and Easton Miller, Abby Pieper, Jace Moore and Caleb Beerman had one goal apiece. Jacob McCollum had three assists, Brady Ketzenberger added two helpers and Holden Hunter, Matthew Johnson and Lyndsey Lake each had one.

Ryan Kerkela was in goal and recorded 18 saves for the win as his teammates had 27 shots on goal.

The Marquette team zoomed past the Viroqua Thunder 10-0 as Brock Taylor had three goals and an assist. Rector and Lars Anderson each added two goals, while Moore had a goal and two assists and Beerman a goal and an assist. Miller added a goal, while Pieper had three assists and Hutter and McCollum two assists apiece. Goalie Austin Maynard recorded the shutout.

Coach Dan Ragusett’s team completed the sweep with a 8-5 win over Northbrook, Illinois, on Sunday. Taylor had two goals and an assist as Marquette broke a 4-4 tie, then scored two more quick goals to ice the result.

Moore had two goals and Johnson, Miller, Pieper and Rector one each. Anderson had two assists while those with one included Rylan Ragusett. Kerkela earned the win in net as CIA held a 34-27 shots advantage.
