MARQUETTE - The final numbers aren't available yet but it looks like this year's Marquette Rotary West's Harbor Fest was a success.
"It went very well despite the rain," said Michelle Sellers, the club's president. "We had a really good turnout. We are happy with the number of people who came out."
The event, which took place in Mattson Lower Harbor Park, included a gala Thursday night and two days of music, food and fun Friday and Saturday.
"We had great crowds," Sellers said. "We sold 1,500 wristbands Friday and at least double that on Saturday, so we had at least 4,500 people over the weekend. And our gala Thursday evening sold out and that's 250 people."
The headliner Friday night was Chicago-based Bumpus while Saturday night's main act was Night Prowler, an AC/DC tribute band from Cleveland, Ohio.
"We had other bands, too, some local, some family-oriented," Sellers said. "They all did great. This year, we had free admission and that worked well, despite the drizzle on Saturday."
While final totals are being calculated, Sellers said she is hopeful the club met its goal of $50,000 raised over the weekend.
"The money goes back to the community. It's all donated to local charities, and that's exciting," she said.
