MICHIGAMME - Roxane Gardner won the Michigamme township clerk's Democratic race over challenger William C. Seppanen with a vote of 87 to 50 in Tuesday's primary.

The seat is for an unexpired term that ends Nov. 20, 2016. The clerk's position is normally a 4-year term, but a vacancy occurred for the position when the Clerk Jean Howe retired on March 31. Gardner began serving in the clerk's role as an appointee.

She advances to the general election in November, when there will be no Republican or independent challenger listed on the ballot.
