To the Journal editor:
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the search and rescue involving my son and myself in the Porcupine Mountains.
I do not remember everyone's names, nor did I realize during the night that there were so many authorities and volunteers involved.
I am also thankful that my husband and other son were taken care of during the entire ordeal.
When we were found it was a great relief to know that my son was going to be ok. Thank you for the water, snacks, bug spray, and shoes. The patience, kindness, and understanding from everyone went well beyond anything I expected. There are no words to express my feelings about the entire situation.
I wonder how to thank such amazing individuals. A piece of advice given was to pay it forward, everyone will need help at some point in their life. I believe and agree with this one hundred percent.
I wish I could thank each of you personally. I would like to thank the following: Michigan State Police troopers and personnel from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, state police from the Calumet post K-9 unit (Vince is awesome), U.S. Coast Guard and state police from the Wakefield post.
Also, Federal Forest Service personnel, Ontonagon County Sheriff's Department and the Ontonagon Community Emergency Response Team.
With all the gratitude and appreciation in the world,
