MARQUETTE - Allowing just seven shots on net and no goals in three games, the Marquette Red Bulls U12 soccer team claimed the Wisconsin Rapids Tournament championship the weekend of June 14-13,
In the title tilt, the Red Bulls (10-2-2) blanked the Water Cities Blue Thunder of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, 2-0.
Jacob Rose opened the scoring in the first half off a cross pass from Trevor Salmon re-directed by Joe Lagrou.

In the second half, Salmon scored on a penalty kick to put the game on ice.
Nicolaas Vermaat posted the shutout in goal.
In a previous contest, the Marquette kickers beat Wisconsin Stevens Point, 2-0, behind goals by Finn Whalen and Trevor Salmon - the latter's 100th career goal in travel soccer.
Picking up assists were Cross Lakenen and Rose, while Vermaat and Salmon shared goaltending duties.
In their tourney opener, the Red Bulls whipped host Wisconsin Rapids 5-0, behind a three-goal first half effort by Salmon. Rose and Drew Wyble posted single markers.
Hunter Sides, Rose and Erik Salminen drew assists, with Vermaat and Salmon splitting duties in net.
