NEGAUNEE, MI. - Theresa Richard Bennett, 85, of 94 Croix St., Negaunee, and formerly of Maple Ridge Rd., Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side early Friday morning, June 6, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital.
Theresa was born September 15, 1928 in Houghton to Ernest and Elizabeth (Snowden) Richard and graduated from Houghton High School, Class of 1947. She lived in various places before moving to Negaunee in 1957. She was employed at numerous places including the First National Bank of Negaunee, Miners Bank, Bechtel at the Empire Mine, The Cookie Cutter and she was the best Walmart greeter of all time!
Mrs. Bennett was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee, where she belonged to the quilter's group.
In her free time she enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and playing cribbage. Most of all, Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Ruth (Jerry) Poutanen of Negaunee and Becky (Ted) Clemens of Sachse, TX; 2 sons: David (Lexine) Bennett, Jr. of Negaunee and Robert (Beverly) Bennett of Marquette; 12 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Kelli) Poutanen, Theresa (Mike) D'Ambrose, Maryellen (Jason) Charbonneau, Rachael (Dan) Viitala, Benjamin, Adelaide and Peter Clemens, David (Kristen) and Scott Bennett, Marjorie (Peter) Marshall, Christina Bennett and Robert (Julie) Bennett; 6 great-grandchildren: Autumn and Andy Laughlin, Alexis and Allison Charbonneau, Emme Rose Poutanen and Bode Bennett; 1 sister: Lorraine Kroneck of Madison Heights, MI; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 12 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Negaunee with Rev. Tamra Harder officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:30 am at the church on Thursday, and also at a luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Theresa's memory.
