L'ANSE - Alyssa Jo Norback was the salutatorian for the L'Anse High School Class of 2014.
The daughter of Julie Raby and Thomas Norback, she had a grade point average of 3.886.
Included in school activities were: Member of the National Honors Society, secretary; Health Occupations Students of America, vice president; Michigan Youth in Government; and The National Society of High School Scholars.
In addition, she played junior varsity and varsity basketball and volleyball,volleyball co-captain; varsity golf, team captain; and softball. She also participated in honors convocation, honor guard, and academic honor roll.
Norback's extra-curricular activities included being a member of Trinity Lutheran youth group and Baraga County 4-H, colunteering for community clean-up day, donating blood, serving as a Sunday school teacher, volunteering at Lake Trout Festival, participating in Adopt-a-Highway, serving as middle school volleyball coach, involvement with Aura Haunted House and working athletic events.
She was also nominated for William Jarvey award in 2013, and named to the first team all-conference in golf for four years.
Norback plans to attend Northern Michigan University for the first two years, then transfer to Michigan State University with a career in the medical field as her goal.
