NEGAUNEE - Junior Brendan Higbie made the most of batting leadoff, collecting four hits each game as Marquette swept Negaunee in a high school baseball doubleheader Monday.
Higbie also knocked in a run and scored twice in each game of the Redmen's 10-5 and 8-3 victories.
Freshman pitcher Garrett Finkbeiner went 4 2/3 innings to get the victory in Game 1, allowing four hits and five walks while giving up three runs. Sophomore teammate Jay Oberg went all six innings in the nightcap, scattering seven hits and walking none while fanning three.

"We got some key hits in some key spots in both games," said coach Todd Koski of Marquette (11-6). "Finkbeiner and Oberg were hitting their spots.
"And our (defense) was solid for both games with some tough hops contributing to errors by both teams."
The Redmen scored multiple runs in the top of the first inning in each game. While the Miners got one run back soon after, Marquette came up with five runs each time in the third inning to all but put the game away.

MSHS senior Jacob Olson was 2 for 4 with a double each game and collected a total of four RBIs, while junior teammate Luke McAuliffe was 4 for 5 overall, scoring twice in the opener and knocking in two runs in Game 2.
Junior Hunter Ridley and sophomore Jay Lori each had three hits combined for the Miners.
Negaunee senior starting pitchers Luke Hill and Brett Argall were tagged with the losses.
