POWERS - McKinley Larson sparked the Marquette American Legion Blues baseball team Tuesday with his bat and his arm.
He smacked a three-run homer in the first inning, then pitched a two-hit shutout over five innings in a 14-0 Blues mercy rule win over North Central High School.
"Mac was really on tonight and threw a lot of strikes," Blues assistant coach Randy Larson said after the Marquette team improved to 13-1 on the season.
"We wanted to limit his pitch count and he was just a little over what we had set for him to throw."
Larson struck out nine and walked just one during his mound stint.
Teammate Colton Wiggins posted three hits and two RBIs., while Payton LeBombard added two hits and a pair of runs driven in.
