MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University on Thursday announced its men's basketball schedule for next season, the second under head coach Bill Sall.
The schedule features a dozen home games at the Berry Events Center.
"We have a very demanding schedule that will test this team every step of the way," Sall said. "I am looking forward to seeing the men's basketball team continue to grow in the upcoming season."
The schedule is broken up without any long road trips or homestands. The longest stretch of games both at home and on the road is four games.
NMU opens with two games at Lewis University as part of the GLIAC/Great Lakes Valley Conference Challenge on Nov. 14-15.
The opening game on a Friday night will be against the host Flyers while Game 2 is against former GLIAC foe Indianapolis the next day.
The first home game is a few days later against Finlandia University at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19. That's followed by a four-game road trip.
The first two are at a four-team classic held at Southwest Minnesota State Nov. 29-30. The Wildcats open against the host Mustangs on Saturday before facing Wayne State (Neb.) the second day. Michigan Tech will also be at the event.
Northern then travels east to Ohio to open its conference season at Walsh on Thursday, Dec. 4, and at Malone on Saturday, Dec. 6.
NMU returns home to end its pre-Christmas schedule facing Findlay at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, and the Detroit-based Wayne State at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15.
The Wildcats return to action in Ohio with game at Tiffin on Friday, Jan. 2, and Ohio Dominican on Sunday, Jan. 4.
The next six of eight games are at home - the Berry will host Ashland on Jan. 8, Lake Erie on Jan. 10, Grand Valley State on Jan. 15 and Ferris State on Jan. 17.
NMU is at Saginaw Valley State on Jan. 22 and Hillsdale on Jan. 24 before returning home to face Lake Superior State on Jan. 29 and Northwood on Jan. 31.
Northern gets its first shot at Michigan Tech in Houghton on Feb. 2, then goes to GVSU on Feb. 5 and Ferris on Feb. 7.
That's followed by home games vs. SVSU on Feb. 12 and Hillsdale on Feb. 14, road contests at Lake Superior State on Feb. 19 and Northwood on Feb. 21, and a season-ending home game vs. MTU on Feb. 26.
Season tickets are now on sale for $78 per seat for 13 dates that includes the entire men's and women's schedules. Single-game tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for youth ages 18 and under and seniors 60 and over.
