MARQUETTE, MI. - Myron A. "Ike" Weston, age 84, of Marquette, entered eternal life Wednesday morning, May 7, 2014, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, in the loving, comforting care of his family, the Jacobetti staff, and Lake Superior Hospice. He had resided at the Jacobetti Home since December 2011. Ike was born April 2, 1930 in Ishpeming to William and Eleanor (Kelly) Weston, and was raised in Marquette. Following graduation from John D. Pearce High School, he enlisted in the U.S Navy. During his four years of service, he travelled the world, serving during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge in 1952, he returned to Marquette and began studies at Northern Michigan University, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. On February 6, 1954, he married Beatrice "Bea" Savola, and together the couple established their home in Marquette, began a family and raised four daughters. Ike worked in insurance and auto sales for the majority of his career. His proudest accomplishment was building the family camp on the Black River and some of his happiest times were spent there with his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and had a fondness for the great outdoors. He enjoyed reading, and keeping up with current events and the political landscape.
