ESCANABA - With players missing due to prom, the Marquette Senior High School softball team was swept by Alpena, 3-2 and 15-2, on Saturday in a doubleheader played in Escanaba.
MSHS senior pitcher Senja Liimatta struck out 12 Alpena batters in Game 1, but gave up a run in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings - only one was earned - to allow Alpena to rally for the win in eight innings.
The Redettes (4-5) scored two runs in the third inning to go up 2-0 in Game 1 with junior Amanda Gray and junior varsity call-up Hannah Bulinski each drving in those runs with RBI doubles.
In Game 2, Alpena plated runs in all five innings, including seven in the third, for a mercy-shortened win.
Alpena was led by Logan Myers, who went 3 for 4 with a double, grand slam, eight RBIs and two runs scored.
For MSHS, JV call-up Autumn Isip was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Junior Emilee Lamora was 1 for 2 with an RBI.
