MARQUETTE - The Marquette Red Bull team defeated the Ashwaubenon, Wis., Storm 6-0 in the finals to capture the championship of the Under-14 boys division at the 19th annual Superior Dome Soccer Tournament held April 5-6 in Marquette.
Other teams in the U14 division were from Alpena and Escanaba as Marquette went 1-0-1 in games leading up to the championship.
The Red Bulls opened with a 1-1 tie against Escanaba's Bayside from the Upper Peninsula Football Association, getting their goal from Eli Pickard while Ben Noble and Riley Lindberg shared duties in net. Noble got credit for five saves and Lindberg two.

Marquette blanked Alpena FC 1-0 when Ethan Martysz scored the game's lone goal with an assist going to Kahleb Federau. Noble and Lindberg again split goaltending as they totaled three saves.
The Red Bulls scored three times in each half of the championship game. In the first half, Lindberg scored with an assist going to Pickard, while Martysz tacked on two unassisted tallies. Then in the second half, Pickard and Martysz picked up unassisted tallies while Zac Holm scored with an assist going to Colton Yesney. Noble got the shutout in net making two saves.
Marquette coaches credited Caleb Byma, Brenden Lindgren, Ryan Gooch, Jack Rantanen and Austin Swetich for outstanding defense that allowed just one goal in three games.
The dome tourney continues with action in other divisions the weekend of April 25-27.
