NEGAUNEE - Peninsula Bank of Ishpeming nipped Nylund Fisheries of Menominee, 70-68, to capture the Negaunee Invitational Class C Championship on Sunday at Lakeview Memorial Gymnasium in Negaunee.
Former Westwood and Northern Michigan University player Boone Bell scored 17 points for Pen Bank, while ex-Negaunee player and current Miners boys coach Mike O'Donnell added 15.
For Nylund, Sam Larson scored 18 points and Brett Beland had 17.

The finalists won earlier games Sunday to advance.
Pen Bank held off Jandron Custom Home Builders of Negaunee, 73-68, despite two-time Class C all-state Tyler Jandron scoring 38 for Jandron's. Teammate Alex Herman added 13.
Pen Bank's Kurt Corcoran, now Westwood's girls coach, scored 17 points while Dylan Johnson, a former Superior Central and Finlandia standout, had 13.
Nylund knocked off U.P. Insurance Agency of Negaunee, 74-54, as Beland scored 25 and Larson 18.
For U.P. Insurance, Aaron Faulkner poured in 24 points and Anthony Katona had 16.
In the women's consolation finals, two hometown teams squared off with Negaunee Vet getting past the Flying Finns, 54-38. Shelle Rochon scored 19 points and Stephanie Bahrman had 10 for the winners, while Carla Honkala pitched in 11 and Maria Sturos 10 for the Finns.
The Negaunee-based teams reached the consolation championship with late Saturday wins.
Negaunee Vet defeated Shenanigans of Escanaba 65-54 as Rochon scored 26 points and teammate Shalyn Hill had 12. Shenanigans' Courtney Waara, a former Negaunee standout, scored 21 and Christa Erickson had 20.
The Flying Finns outscored Tincknell Distributing of Negaunee, 70-58. Sturos scored 16 and Becky Therrian 12 for the victors, while Ashley Moore scored 14 and Heather Moore 10 for Tincknell.
In another game played Sunday in Class D, Meyer Family Vision of Ishpeming reached the semifinal round by beating Chapman's Tavern of Ishpeming, 67-59.
Kevin Jacobson and Travis Smith each scored 16 points for the winners, while Scott Chapman had 21 and Mike Paquette 17 for Chapman's.
The NIT resumes play late Friday afternoon with the 45-and-older and Class B divisions with each completing play by Sunday evening.
Six teams are entered in the single-elimination 45-and-older bracket, while a dozen are featured in the double-elimination Class B division.
