March 27, 2014
The Mining Journal

The eighth annual Alger County 4-H Winter Service Day was held recently and involved 37 individuals gathering to help sew items for the Community Baby Closet, braid fleece chew toys, bake dog treats, decorate Easter bags, and fold origami bunnies to donate to area agencies. The group constructed and decorated 100 Easter bags and 100 origami bunnies. They baked 70 homemade dog biscuits, and braided 26 chew toys. Youths who have sewing abilities sewed 13 baby blankets, 26 wash cloths, and 26 burp cloths. A wide variety of items such as diapers, shampoo, body wash, blankets, clothing and a Baby's first Year picture frame were donated by Alger County 4H families.
