MARQUETTE - The Upper Peninsula Early Childhood Conference will be Friday and Saturday at the Bottum University Center of Northern Michigan University.
The theme this year is P.L.A.Y., or "Purposeful Learning for Active Young people."
This conference will be of interest to primary caregivers, parents, students, educators and anyone who works with young children. Participants will be able to attwnd various workshops, including: Hands-On Learning and Sensory Integration; CDA Tips, TEACH Support; Writing in Preschool!; Using Visuals to Enhance Learning; Using Everyday Materials; Raising Mindfulness in Parents/Teachers; Math in the Early Childhood Classroom; and Medications with Young Children.
The two keynote presentations will be by musician Jim Gill and author Dan Hodgins.
Hodgins authored two books "Boys: Changing the Classroom, Not the Child" and his new book titled, "GET OVER IT, Relearning guidance practices." Gill's music can be viewed by visiting www.jimgill.com.
Conference registration fees are full conference $110, Friday only $75, Saturday only $75, student rate full conference $60, student rate one-day $35.
