Camp Hiawatha receives new truck

March 17, 2014
The Mining Journal

A new Ford F-250 pick-up truck was recently obtained for Camp Hiawatha with the help of Bergstrom Automotive of Appleton to support the year- round camp operations. Shown with the truck are officers of the Camp Hiawatha Corporation, including Bay Lakes Scout Executive Mark Logemann, Officers William Davis and Dan Closner of Marquette, Steve Lindahl of Gladstone and Stan Newill of Sault Ste. Marie. Don Miller from Marquette is also an officer. Bergstrom Automotive of Appleton made the acquisition possible through a significant discount and contribution. The rest of the cost came from funds remaining after the sale of the service center in Marquette. The new heavy duty truck will again allow year-round use of the camp with its snow plow capability. Camp Hiawatha near Chatham in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest is now operated by the Bay Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts that includes northeastern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula. More information on the programs and facilities of the Bay Lakes Council is available at www.baylakesbsa.org/.
