ESCANABA -Tickets are available for the 43rd Annual Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet.
The banquet is scheduled for April 26 at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, 15 miles west of Escanaba on U.S. 2-41.
Tickets are $25 per person and must be purchased and/or ordered by April 22. They are available throughout the Upper Peninsula from members of the UPSHF executive council.
The banquet begins at 6 p.m. (EDT) in the room behind the casino proper. Also recognized will be four U.P. high school students who will receive college scholarships from the hall.
The 2014 induction class includes Terry Duval and Sharon Schultz of Escanaba. Jill (Gobert) VanDamme of Perkins; Mike Photenhauer of Menominee. Mike Caruso of Iron Mountain, Jon Lebrasseur of Nahma; Jim Corgiat of Bessemer; Whitney Bell of Sault Ste. Marie; Bill Lucier of Hancock; and the late Holly Jean (Anderson) McCullah of Laurium.
The hall nomination deadline is June 1 each year.
There are currently 272 nominations on file, according to UPSHF executive secretary Dennis Grall, with 149 in the pre-1970 division and 123 in the post-1970 division.
New nominations, or updated information on previous nominees, should be submitted to Grall in Escanaba, either at 2115 24th Ave. South, 49829, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
