MARQUETTE, MI. - Julius Knute Larsson, Jr., age 89, of Marquette, entered eternal life Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, in the loving, comforting care of his family and the Jacobetti staff.
Born November 14, 1924 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the son of Julius Knute and Roseanna (Maleport) Larsson, Sr, Julius was raised in the Soo, spending a lot of time on Sugar Island, and moving with his family to Marquette at the age of 8. Following graduation from the Graveraet High School, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge in 1945, Julius relocated to California where he attended and graduated from the California Aero Technical College in Glendale, California.
Returning to Marquette, he opened and operated his own import car dealership, specializing in selling SAAB, Toyota, Fiat, Crosley, Sunbeam, and Simca automobiles. His was the second dealership specializing in foreign autos in Marquette and he later added Yahama motorcycles to his inventory. After many years of service to the area, Julius sold his business to Don Lucas. In the years following, Julius was employed for a time with the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroads at the shops and ore dock, prior to retirement.

Julius enjoyed sailing, flying, antique cars, reading, and especially enjoyed going to 10 am coffee at McDonalds with his friends. Julius was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Julius is survived by his wife, Geraldine M. "Gerry" (Higgins) Larsson; his sons, Lance (Patti) Larsson and Kirk (LeAnne) Larsson both of Marquette; his grandchildren, Angela (Nick) Davis, Nicole (Travis) Grim, Melissa Temple, and Justin (Nichole) Temple; great-grandchildren, Harlow, Cadyn, MaKayla, and Addison; his in-laws, John (Diana) Higgins of Marquette, Robert (Shirley) Higgins of Lansing, Francis (Lyla) Higgins and Agnes Timmering both of Chandler, AZ, William Higgins of San Luis Obispo, CA; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Julius was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Ann Larsson; his sister, Reeta Elgland and her husband, Paul; brother-in-law, Tim Timmering; and brother-in-law, Howard Higgins and wife, Martha.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Friday, March 14, from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 6:00 pm. Rev. Leon Jarvis will preside and spring burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.
