PALMER, MI. - Elizabeth Louise 'Dolly' Herman, 81, former Palmer resident, died at 7:29 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Eastwood Nursing Center where she had resided since December of 2013.
Dolly was born August 27, 1932 in Princeton to Charles and Ernestine (Forchini) Gravedoni, attended Ishpeming High School and has been a lifelong area resident. She married Albert 'Sonny' Herman in Negaunee on April 18, 1953 and they raised two children.
Mrs. Herman was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church while residing in Palmer. Her hobbies included playing cards and Bingo.
Surviving are her 2 sons: John (Darcy) Herman of Crestview, FL and Ricky Herman of Negaunee; 4 grandchildren: Tina Herman, John Herman, Jr., Cheryl (Daniel Beltz) Herman and Dale (Cassie) Herman; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mildred Perry and Judy (Paul) Jarvi, both of Negaunee; 5 brothers: Charles 'Clark' (Pat) Gravedoni, Joseph (Charlotte) Gravedoni, Paul (Peggy) Gravedoni, all of Negaunee, William (Suann) Gravedoni and Daniel Gravedoni, both of Crestview, FL; 2 aunts: Mary Langlois and Ruby Forchini; 2 sisters-in-law: Rosemary Sharland and Dolores (Robert) Jandron; a brother-in-law, David (Barbara) Herman; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert 'Sonny' Herman in 1990; an infant daughter; 2 brothers: Gerald and James; 2 infant brothers; half-sister, Adele Hintsala; brother-in-law, James Perry; and a daughter-in-law, Collette Herman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 13th at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dolly's 5 brothers and her brother-in-law, Paul Jarvi.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at the church on Thursday.
