MARQUETTE, MI. - Bret Stephen Amo, age 24, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, as a result of complications from a seizure disorder.
Bret was born October 1, 1989 to John and Faye (Catel) Amo, and was raised in Marquette. As a child, Bret was active and participated in several sports, including hockey and soccer. Bret graduated from Marquette Senior High in 2008 and enrolled the following fall at Northern Michigan University where he attended for two years before transferring to at Michigan State University. Bret was currently a senior studying economics.
Bret was an avid reader and enjoyed playing on his computer. He spent lots of time with the family dog Mario and liked walking him as much as possible. Bret had a love for Lake Superior and enjoyed water skiing, jet skiing and swimming, especially at his lifetime best friend, Ben Tarsi's house. Growing up, Bret was always with a group of childhood friends, many of which he remained close with through college.

He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Marquette. Many lives have benefited as a result of Bret's donation through the Michigan Gift of Life Program.
Bret is survived by his father, John Amo; his grandmother, Leone Amo; his uncles, Ken, Tom (Pat), and Jim (Brooke) Amo; his aunts, Stephanie Trumm and Jayme Iknoian; several cousins; and many longtime special friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye; his grandparents, Stephen and Ethel Catel and John M. Amo.
No services will be held at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. Interment will take place in the Park Cemetery in Marquette.
