MSHS defeats HHS in 3rd round of Public TV 13’s High School Bowl

Marquette Senior High School defeated Hancock High School in the third round of High School Bowl by a score of 300-150. Representing Marquette are, seated from left, Ben Wright, team captain Josh Elsenbroek, Nels Lindquist and Ryan Protrowski. Standing are alternates Conner Laitinen and Bethany Wright and coach Jesse Kainulainen. Players for Hancock are, seated from left, Chris Jaehning, Melanie Nulf, team captain Drew Stockero and Kevin Kelley. Standing is alternate Kaylor Holmstrom and coach Senia Kuntze. High School Bowl host G.G. Gordon is standing at lower left. Forty schools from the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin field teams for Public TV 13's High School Bowl tournament, which is celebrating 36 years on the air. MSHS advances to the quarter-finals against Bessemer, which is scheduled to air on March 22. Running from November through the championship game in April, the High School Bowl series airs on Public TV 13 at 8 p.m. Saturdays and noon Mondays. Major production funding for High School Bowl is provided by The Sam and Elinor Benedict Fund and The Ray and Peg Hirvonen Foundation. Production funding is also provided by 20 Upper Peninsula Credit Unions.
