MARQUETTE - Area high school bowling teams will travel to three Lower Peninsula bowling centers for MHSAA regional competition on Friday and Saturday.
Separate boys and girls competition will be held simultaneously, with each school allowed one entry in team competition and six individuals in singles.
Team competition is on Friday and singles on Saturday, with three schools in team and 10 individuals in singles advancing to the state championship tournament to be held the following weekend at other Lower Peninsula sites.
Marquette will be joined by fellow Upper Peninsula Bowling Conference members Escanaba and Iron Mountain-Kingsford at a 15-school Division 2 regional at Monitor Lanes in Bay City. Sault Ste. Marie will also be at this regional.
Ishpeming-Negaunee goes to the 14-team Division 3 regional at Cheboygan Lanes in Cheboygan with UPBC members Gladstone and Menominee. Calumet of the UPBC was also invited but has indicated it will not attend.
Westwood and L'Anse will be at the 13-team Division 4 regional at Lucky Jack's in Traverse City. St. Ignace will also be there.
The D2 finals are in Waterford, D3 in Jackson and D4 in Battle Creek on Feb. 28 and March 1.
