CALUMET - Giving up four goals in the opening period, the Negaunee High School hockey team wound up losing to host Calumet Thursday night, 8-1.
"We tried a couple of new things against them, but made some mistakes early," NHS coach Darrel Sleeman said. "Calumet beat us on a lot of 1-on-1 situations."
The Bulldogs got three goals and two assists from Robert Erkkila.
Cody Wetton notched a third period marker for Negaunee (6-17).
"Our struggle all year has been to get the puck in the net," Sleeman said. "If we get some offense, we have a chance to win."
