GENEVA, Ohio - Junior Debbi Lawrence was part of two team records set by Northern Michigan University at the GLIAC Championship women's swimming and diving meet held in Geneva, Ohio, on Thursday.
The Wildcats are in third place at the 10-team meet with 296 points after two days of the four-day competition. Wayne State leads with 458 and Grand Valley State is second with 332.
Lawrence set an individual team record in the 100-meter butterfly in 54.73 seconds, earning herself an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, too.
She then joined junior teammates Emily Bourguignon and Madisen Sechena along with sophomore Crystal Bennet in clocking an NMU record of 3:51.86 in the 400 medley relay, good for third place in the meet.
Bennet added a fourth place in the 100 fly in 56.37 seconds, while in the 400 individual medley, Sechena was fourth in 4:29.62, while Jordan Iverson eighth.
In the 200 freestyle, junior Tara Dowling (1:53.99), Bourguignon and freshman Rachel Borchardt finished fourth through sixth, respectively.
