ISHPEMING - The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will be meeting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Cliff Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid St., Ishpeming.
Doors open at 1 p.m. to allow time to view the extensive mineral collection. The program will be "Excavation of a Mid-17th Century Proto-Historic First Nation & French Contract Site in the Central Upper Peninsula" by James Paquette.
Paquette will provide an overview of the recent archaeological excavations in 2012 and 2013 that were under taken at the site. He will speak on the evidence that has been uncovered thus far that the site maybe a Anishinabe Family winter encampment dating back to the 1630-1640 time period.
A silent auction of mineral specimens and a business meeting will follow the program. For more information, call 228-9422.
