NMU swimming and diving: Wildcats third at GLIAC Championships after Day 1

GENEVA, Ohio - The Northern Michigan University swimming and diving team sits third overall after the first day of competition Wednesday at the GLIAC Championships at Spire Institute in Genevea, Ohio.

NMU junior Debbi Lawrence placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.24 seconds. Freshman Rachel Borchardt took second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:08.32) while Junior Tara Dowling was fourth (10:18.91) in the 1,000.

The 200 yard relay team of Lawrence, sophomore Crystal Bennet, juniors Madisen Sechena and Emily Bourguignon finished fourth in 1:44.64.

In the 3-meter diving competition, junior Molly Kearney finished sixth.
