Prep girls basketball: Superior Central falls at home to Menominee

By Ogden Sports Staff , The Mining Journal

EBEN - Superior Central head coach Greg Trowbridge called it among the worst games he has seen from his team.

Menominee called it a 49-31 victory.

Four nights after losing by 37 at Class D Stephenson, the Maroons took care of business against the Class D Cougars on their home court, where they haven't lost in over two years.

"We didn't do a good job of boxing out," said Trowbridge, adding his team was out-rebounded by a wide margin.

"We had 20 turnovers and I can't have my star players throwing the ball away. There were so many unforced errors it was sickening."

Vanessa Freberg got into foul trouble and sat for the second quarter. Meanwhile, the Cougars' offense struggled, shooting 13-for-48. Brooke Pasanen led SC with 14 points. Freberg scored 13 with eight rebounds. Teslyn Tyner was held to a career low two points.
