GWINN - Snapping a three-game losing streak, the Gwinn High School boys basketball team beat visiting Norway on Tuesday night, 53-36.

"We needed a win bad," Modeltowners coach Darren Sinnaeve said. "We played well defensively and the kids showed a lot of energy."

Owen DeVooght paced Gwinn with 18 points, while teammate Justin Nyquist added 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

"Owen had a nice game," Sinnaeve said. "He made his free throws. He had been struggling at the line, but made 8 of 10 tonight.

"Justin had a good night rebounding, too."

Gwinn (6-6 overall, 5-3 Mid-Peninsula Conference) led 31-20 at the half, then outscored the Knights (6-7, 2-5) by an 11-4 margin in the third quarter to put the game away.
