NEWBERRY, MI. - Lifelong Newberry resident, Marjorie Helen Fuller, 94, died Saturday evening January 25, 2014 at her residence with family members at her side.
Born July 26, 1919 in Newberry, daughter of the late William and Hazel (Campbell) McMahon, Marjorie was a 1937 graduate of Newberry High School and attended two years at Grand Rapids Junior College. She married the late Ralph C. Fuller in 1942 and later owned and operated Fuller's Apparel Shop for women from 1946 to 1975 and also for many years a summer shop in Curtis, MI. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Newberry Business and Professional Women's Club and the Order of Eastern Star Luce County Chapter #364.
Marjorie was involved in community theatre activities in the 1950's, both as a director and a performer. She organized and put on her own store style shows, using models from the community. Marjorie wrote Luce County human interest stories for the Sault Ste. Marie Evening News in the 1960's.
Marjorie worked for the U.S Draft Board during World War II. She also worked for the local Red Cross during the Vietnam War. In later years and at various times, she worked for the local radio station, the Unemployment Agency and the Depew Insurance Agency.
Marjorie was loyal to her many friends, her community and her family. Her family was her pride and joy and she took pleasure in the accomplishments of her three daughters.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Ralph on July 28, 1982; siblings Elizabeth (Libby) Coleman, Bill McMahon and Mike McMahon. She is survived by her three daughters Melissa (Pat) Thompson of Arnold, Maryland, Jane Fuller of Newberry and Virginia Gail (Joe) Glasheen of Kodiak, Alaska; six grandsons, three great- grandsons and three great-granddaughters.
According to her wishes, cremation services have been accorded. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church with a date to be announced in the spring/summer and interment at Forest Home Cemetery.
Memorials in Marjorie's name may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Newberry of which her grandmother, Elizabeth Campbell, was a charter member. Condolences may be expressed at beaulieufuneralhome. com. Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry is assisting the family.
