EBEN - Superior Central held Stephenson to just 18 points in the second half to take a 58-50 comeback victory in a high school boys basketball game played Thursday night.
Jake Aho led the Cougars (2-8) with 16 points and teammate Cody Maki added 12. But SC coach Herb Jenkins was most pleased with the play of two of his other players, Garrett Schertz and Coalton Richmond.
"Garrett's play the last two games has been tremendous, and his development can only help us during the second half of the season," Jenkins said. "As for Coalton, he added nine points and played well on both ends of the court.
"Obviously, without these two guys, it's a much different game."
Though the Cougars jumped out to an 18-13 lead after one quarter, Stephenson (1-9) came back in the second to take a 32-29 halftime advantage. By the end of the third, SC had retaken a 40-39 lead.
While game totals weren't available, Jenkins noted that Eagles center Brandon Kau and teammate Levi Brock each scored 10 points in the first half, while the pair between them had just eight points in the second half.
