ALTOONA, WI. - Eugene Richard Carr, age 78, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.
Gene, as he was called by many, was born on May 17, 1935 in Marquette City, Michigan to Louis and Angelina (Mikulick) Carr.
Gene graduated from Mathias Township School in Trenary, MI on May 25, 1954. He proudly served in the Air Force as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic stationed out of Charleston, SC until his honorable discharge in July of 1956.
He married Barbara Lind in July of 1958, they later divorced but remained friends. Gene loved the outdoors; taking care of his garden and yard, going fishing, and hunting. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards. He always enjoyed family functions, and sharing his time over the years with his special Springer Spaniel, Hercules. He was self-employed as a carpet and flooring installer.
Gene is survived by his three sons: Scott Carr of Fall Creek, Richard (Sheree) Carr of Cameron, and Dan Carr of Fall Creek; grandchildren: Brent Carr, Amanda (Troy) Taylor, Adam Carr and April Carr; 9 great grandchildren; siblings: Frances Chaltry of Ludington, MI, Nancy Carr of Marshfield, WI, and Steven Carr of MI;former spouse and good friend Barbara Bloome; and many more relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother Vera; 3 brothers: Stanley Carr, Raymond Carr and Thomas Carr; and his sister Judith Lovallo.
A Celebration of Gene's life will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 4pm-7pm at Stokes, Prock, and Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Inurnment will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
The family would like to thank everyone for the care and support of Gene during this illness.
