Folk music at its best

MARQUETTE - The Great Yooper Folk Dance will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University, Marquette.

The dance will feature local traditional music group All Strings Considered and local caller Marge Sklar leading a contra dance at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Derrell Syria Project at 9 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students/kids. Cabin Fever Days will run Jan. 25-March 22. It is designed to encourage U.P. residents to get out and enjoy a series of events celebrating U.P. culture during the winter months.
